FOLKLOGUE

Building Resilient Communities, One Story at a Time.

We do this by putting in place a network of sustainable and commercially viable solutions that is both rooted in the community, and continues to move the community towards a more economically and environmentally resilient future.

Who we are?

Folklogue was started as a community development organisation with a commitment towards helping build resilient communities.

What we do?

Identifying Community Needs and Development Models

Folklogue works by identifying the needs
of communities, selecting the best-suited models, and channeling this information into a combination of solutions and partners for community development.

Our work aims to facilitate grassroots-level change. We bring collective work experience with a wide network of Local Self Government Departments (LSGDs), cooperative banks, private entrepreneurs, and public-private participatory establishments to build strong and self-sufficient communities.

Transparent and Sustainable Development

By creating a transparent and accessible process of development, our goal is to build capacity in communities through an accountable and sustainable methodology. We emphasize collaboration and inclusivity, ensuring that local communities are actively engaged in decision-making processes. Our approach fosters long-term impact by empowering individuals and organizations to take ownership of their development journey.

Aligning with Global Sustainability Goals

With the aim of creating a better world for all, the United Nations unveiled the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. At the heart of this agenda are the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Using the 17 goals as a blueprint, our work is a plan of action driven by strategies to create a better world for the planet, people, and prosperity. Our initiatives align with these global objectives to ensure meaningful and lasting change.

Our Policy

Our policy is driven by People-Planet-Prosperity for all, and our work is rooted in Socially conscious, Economically sustainable and Environmentally resilient practises as directed in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Cape Town Declaration. Our RT models are aimed towards working within a framework that is informed by the aforementioned policy guidelines, and the needs of the communities .

The 2002 Cape Town declaration agreed that responsible tourism:

  • minimises negative economic, environmental and social impacts
  • generates greater economic benefits for local people and enhances the well being of host communities; improves working conditions and access to the industry
  • involves local people in decisions that affect their lives and life chances
  • makes positive contributions to the conservation of natural and cultural heritage embracing diversity
  • provides more enjoyable experiences for tourists through more meaningful connections with local people, and a greater understanding of local cultural, social and environmental issues
  • provides access for physically challenged people
  • is culturally sensitive, encourages respect between tourists and hosts, and builds local pride and confidence
